Risk

Risk
When your heart is pounding
and your head is warning;
 he says take the risk.

The sparkling water looks inviting;
you know there is no danger,
if he is there with you.

Hold on tight and don’t look down,
 keep your eyes fixed on mine;
Eyes of certainty and trust like the moon.

We’ll get through this together,
and it will all be worth it in the end.
The patient hand beckons, as you long to grasp it.

Life is not meant to be easy;
nor should it be safe and comfortable,
stepping outside,
relying on the faith he will catch you.

No second guessing.
Take the risk.
Leap, Fly, Sing, Love.
Life is short waiting for a tide.

Jump
And you take it.
 You jump and wait for it to hurt.
 Tense for the bone crushing,
 heart splitting, hurt, and let down.

But even at that moment,
the breathless heart stopping moment,
when everything is on the line.
 Your world catches fire.
He is right.

In that moment it is worth it.
Worth the sun, the moon, the heavens.
The eruption of a thousand fireworks,
 the surprise of a thousand birthdays,
and the hopes of a thousand candles,
Only flicker in envy at this sense;
The sense of utter freedom and weightlessness.
 Giving into the loss of control.

Falling
Weightlessly you fly
until you realize you are falling.
 Changing, drawing closer to the end.
And the surface seems too close.

The feeling lasted for an eternity,
yet was over in an instant.
Never ending would be better,
 but gravity won’t work that way.

Endings come, and the risk,
that life changing risk,
is just another among the stories you tell.
Until it fades from view
and the thrill is lost with the memory.
